Now I know most of you are not going back to school this year, but its still cool to show off at work and to your friends.
I love these ideas and wish I have these when I was at school. 🙂
1. PENCIL WITH GUM ON END
Grab any pencil you’d like that has an eraser on the end wrapped in metal. Now we want to use some scissors and dig it out. Usually the top piece will break off and then you gotta really get in there and dig the rest out.
Now take a roll of gum, pink or purple are the best colours to use for this. Break off a piece and roll it up tightly, it’s better to get a little extra then slowly cut off little bits until you get a size that perfectly fits the metal casing. Once it fits stick it in and use a flat surface to mould it so you smooth out the edges and flatten the top together. It moulds quite well! The other awesome thing is now you have an emergency gum supply you can totally sneak into class!
2. GLUE STICK STARBURST
This Starburst glue is soooo easy to make and delicious!!
Grab a thin non-toxic glue stick and remove the glue! You can do this by twisting it all the way up and then twisting it off. By twisting you are leaving less residue because it comes off much cleanly then just pulling it since most glue sticks are twisted on and you don’t want to be eating actual glue, which I’m sure many of us have done as kids anyways XD. Use warm water with detergent and clean off any remaining glue. You can use a Q-tip or something small to get in there and scrub it a bit. Put your glue stick back together and make sure the base is sitting at the very bottom and your ready to candify!! Now grab 3 colours of starburst or even just 3 of one colour and you want to stamp them in reverse order. Unwrap a starburst and place it on the wrapper on a flat surface. Stamp your first star burst into the glue stick! You might need to put your bodyweight into this as it is pretty soliid and once you get to the bottom you can twist it a little so that it comes off cleanly. Look at that :)!! Now take the next colour and stamp it down! Feel free to eat the spare bits MM 😀 Now take the final and top colour and repeat! And that’s pretty much it! You can use as make as you can fit on your glue stick till it reaches the top! Now when you twist it you have this super beautiful rainbow gluestick that’s completely edible!! Great way to have a backup sugar hit for the times you can’t concentrate in class!
3. CRAYON GUMMY
Mm gummy crayons!! Super pretty and yummy you’d want to eat the whole pack!!! You’ll need some gelatin, jelly flavours that match your crayons, thick straws that you can get with boba tea’s and some duct tape.
Grab a straw and close one end with duct tape. Grab a section of tape and place the flat end down on it. Cut towards the center with some scissors around the duct tape and tape it down tightly. Do this twice as the first layer still ends up leaking even if you do it right. Make this mould for as many crayons as you want to make.
Now you can make your own container but cutting up the top of a waterbottle to hold the straws upright or find a tall thin glass.
For the gummy, pour in 100 mL of water, stir in half a teaspoon of gelatin and roughly 1 tablespoon of your flavoured jelly. Of course you can use more gelatin if you want a thicker texture so that’s really up to you and if you want to make it opaque you can use a teaspoon of condensed milk. I used lemon and you can also use food colouring if you want the colour to be stronger but we were pretty happy with just the jelly flavour.
Mis it well while it heats up and once it boils wait another 30 seconds and take it off the heat. Pour it into the straw using a funnel or a cup with a pouring nib. Make as many colours as you want and pop it in the fridge to set. We waited about 6 hours.
We ended up making 7 colours to replace every single crayon in our crayon pack. To take it out just simply remove the duct take off the end and squeeze the top end of the straw lightly. It should simply slide right out like a worm XD It was super funnn sooo fun!! To make it look like a crayon you want to use a knife or exacto knife to shape the tip. You want to cut from the end towards you for most control. Carefully cut the wrapper off using a knife along the edge and work it out onto your gummy! Get some clear tape to stick it together. You can hide one gummy amongst your actual crayons or replace the whole pack! Both are pretty fun!
4. ELMERS GLUE GLUCOSE
So one day I was staring at this pretty bottle of elmers glue and went heyyy totally looks edible and this DIY was born!! First we’re going to empty out the elmers glue and store it somewhere so don’t waste it. My fiance MAX is going to use it to make slime on his DIY channel JumboBunny so don’t forget to check it out!! The link is in the description. He recently made this super cute giant mousse slime that literally looks like a rainbow cloud!!
Clean out the bottle with warm water and detergent making sure you clean the lid too! Let it dry and pour some glucose into the bottle. I made my own makeshift funnel but cutting a small hole in a cupcake wrapper. This is pretty much pure sugar and I definitely don’t recommend you actually eating it but it’s edible and looks exactly like it! So I guess now you have elmer’s glue-cose get it!! Hahaha I crack myself up!! Also if you have the white glue you can always use vanilla yoghurt if you actually want to eat it or condensed milk but omg that would be sooo sweet!!
5. ERASER GUMMY
I thought why not make a gummy eraser!! I love gummy!! To make a gummy eraser just added 100ml of milk with 50 ml’s of water, half a teaspoon of gelatin and one tablespoon of red jelly powder. You can use condensed milk, and food colouring and more gelatin to make thicker and heavier coloured erasers so feel free to adjust the ingredients! Mix it over heat and bring it to the boil and wait 30 seconds before taking it off the stove. Pour it into a retangular container that’s roughly the size of an eraser – but if you have a suitable mould use that!! Now let it set over a few hours then gently pop it out! I used a knife to cut mine to the same shape as the eraser and now you’re done!!!
6. ERASER MUSK DISPENSER
Whenever I saw a kid have one of these eraser pens I thought they were so fancy! Now I finally have one and we’re going to make it edible!! Yass! Sooo we’re going to replace the eraser with these super pretty musk sticks. Lets take a moment to appreciate how similar they look. Even down to the length it was exactly the same!!! All you need to do though is carefully shave down the must sticks to the thickness of your eraser stick! Use an exacto knife and if you’re a kid make sure you have parent supervision because this can be dangerous this goes for every single knife cutting diy in this video. The shavings are totally edible so go ahead mm!!! Once you’re done leave it out to dry and it’ll harden up a bit more so it won’t bend. Now just stick it in your eraser and you’re ready to go!! It even dispenses out like a normal eraser sooo cool!
7. KOOLAID SHARPIE
I used to love magic changing markers, scented markers but I never had edible markers!!! To make these you’ll need some food dye pens that’s usually used to decorate cakes and we’re going to paint them to look like a sharpie! Of course you can paint it to match your own markers if you’d like as well. You might need at least 2 coats so take turns paint the lid and tip until it’s opaque enough. Now I’m going in writing sharpie on it with a sharpie hahaha!! To make it look super convincing from a distance!!! Now pour some koolaid in a similar colour into a container and add a tiny bit of water in to dilute it but not too much. Grab a syringe and drip some of this flavouring into your pen. You can also try soaking the tip in as well if you don’t have a syringe. So now you have tasty edible koolaid sharpies and you can make all different kinds of flavours as well!!
8. PENCIL SHAVINGS
I thought it’ll be so cool to pretend to eat pencil shavings – cos.. I’m…awesome XD. And I thought hey nuts looks like pencil shavings so lets grab some brazil nutes since they are the right shape to sharpen. After some shaping off course. Use an exacto knife or a sharp knife to trim up the nut so it will fit into the sharpener. Try and shape it like a pencil as much as you can and of course kids get a parent to do this for you it’s dangerous!!. Once it’s in the right shape sharpen it and it’ll look like actualy pencil shavings!!! You can paint the ends with food dye if you want to make it look like your actual pencil shavings as well. Plus these shavings are super healthy for you!! Mmm tasty
